Empowering Doctors with Next-Gen Endoscopes
We are developing endoscopes with variable stiffness, providing high control and advanced tissue dissection capabilities, enabling new types of minimally invasive procedures.
Benefits
Added value for all stakeholders
Our first product, a scope for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeries called the Variable Stiffness ENTscope, unlocks new minimally invasive sinus procedures in difficult-to-reach areas and improves speed and control in complex larynx surgeries.
Hospitals
Our variable stiffness ENTscope can make surgeries up to three times faster, shorten recovery times, and reduce both costs and hospital stays. With operating room time averaging around 100 CHF per minute in the US and Switzerland, it delivers significant savings.
Doctors
Our variable stiffness ENTscope enables new types of minimally invasive procedures in difficult-to-reach areas of the sinuses, thanks to improved applied force and dexterity compared to conventional rigid and flexible tools. In larynx surgeries, it enhances tip stability, allowing high-precision tissue dissection during complex procedures in hard-to-reach areas.
Patients
Our variable stiffness ENTscope, with its minimally invasive approach, can enable faster, less painful recovery and a quicker return to normal activities, potentially improving the overall patient experience.
Insurance companies
Surgeries with our variable stiffness endoscope could qualify for lower-cost reimbursement due to their minimally invasive nature, reducing expenses while maintaining high-quality care for providers and insurers.
who we are
The people behind Dexterous Endoscopes
Dexterous Endoscopes is an EPFL spin-off project born from over eight years of cutting-edge research in stiffness modulation of medical devices. Our first product targets indications in the sinuses and larynx, where current tools face limitations in access and control.
