The Foundation for Innovation and Technology (FIT) has awarded Dexterous Endoscopes a Tech Seed loan of CHF 100,000 to support the development of our endoscope, which can switch from a flexible to a rigid state during the same procedure.

In minimally invasive surgery, surgeons currently have to choose between rigid endoscopes, which are precise but cannot reach hard-to-access areas, and flexible endoscopes, which can go anywhere but bend as soon as force is needed. As a result, they often have to change instruments mid-procedure or abandon the minimally invasive approach altogether. Our endoscope moves flexibly to reach the target area, then stiffens at the touch of a button to enable precise surgery.

To date, Dexterous Endoscopes has raised over one million Swiss francs and completed seven series of preclinical trials on a functional prototype. The FIT Tech Seed loan will allow us to continue our preclinical trials and prepare for the regulatory and industrialisation stages of the device.
